MY EVERYDAY OOTD + EMBROIDERED BOOT LOVE

I’ve really been getting into shooting more lookbooks on the blog but what I felt was missing was a candid shoot of what I roll around in when there nothing in particular expected of me other than getting up and dressed and answering a few calls and emails.

A boot is my staple footwear for fall/winter when I can’t possibly bear the loafer or trainer any more. Every season I update my boot collection with small but on trend updates. Last year it was a more almond toe and a sock style design. This season I love a flared heel and I find myself ooohing and ahhing over anything embroidered.

So here is it! You guessed it, my look is a simple get up of jeans and knitwear in the winter months. My jeans collection got a major cull last month so I’m down to only 10 pairs of jeans on rotation. Believe it or not, I only kept one pair of skinnies! I’ve been favouring the tomboy cut in recent months. Although still slim on the leg, they are slung low on the hips and glide over my shape rather than hugging it. I feel a lot more comfortable in this sort of cut and it feels a lot more modern than a pair of sprayed on, skin tight jeans.

If you watched my recent shopping haul video on youtube you would have seen that I’d invested in some elevated basics like jumpers and plain, long sleeve tops with a little added interest. I am obsessed with sleeve detailing. This super soft grey jumper is from Topshop and wasn’t very expensive either. I find Topshop’s cheaper knitwear to sometimes be quite itchy and abrasive on the skin but this one isn’t, so I’ve been wearing it loads. I do tend to slip a camisole underneath though as it has quite big slits up the sides. The grey ties on the sleeves are so on trend. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

An outfit this basic would be lacking without a few key details like interesting footwear and some jewellery. I am obsessed with the embroidery trend that started in SS16. I didn’t massively buy into it then but as soon as fall pieces started hitting the shops I wanted it all. I thought about how I would get the most wear out of embroidered clothing and knew that boots would be the best way. I was on a waitlist for a month before I got my hands on this pair of HANA boots from Public Desire. They are a dark brown/black colour with a really vibrant oriental style floral design all over. They are quite decadent so they work amazingly well with a basic look of denim jeans and plain knitwear. I think it makes the look look more put together but allows me to be comfy and casual at the same time.

Finishing touches are the earrings. I decided my earring collection needed a little love so invested in a few pieces of jewellery from the high street. These star and moon earrings are from Mango and I think they are so cool. People stare at them when I wear them. I’m not sure if they think I’m crazy or they love them as much as I do but I am constantly picking them up when a plain look needs a little jazzing up.

I’ve been loving my Motto Denim Black Topshop jacket this month too. Makes a change from always reaching for my leather jacket and I love the oversized look too. And then there is my Chloe Faye bag
