This summer, over coffee and croissants, I had the pleasure of meeting the hilarious and charming in his own way, Managing Director of Guerlain. He was here to talk to us about their new launches and how these products are in every way as modern as they are classic luxury, and for the old Guerlain customer as well as the new.
I’m going to talk about my favourite newbies from the upcoming launches.
KISS KISS Matte Lipstick
Guerlain lipsticks are impeccable. I have always loved the formulas for their rich and satisfying colour pay off as well as the feel good factors on the lips. It’s also worth noting how stunning their packaging always is. The new KISS KISS matte’s are in the same style casing as the orginal formulas but have a gold matte finish.
The formula is creamy but still a suede matte and is easy to apply and sits very comfortably on the lips. The lipstick comes in 9 shades. My favourite colour? The Caliente Biege; the perfect nude with a subtle pink undertone, quite neutral and perfect for everyday.
Lingerie du Peau Aqua Base & Cushion Foundation
The newer sisters to Guerlain’s well-loved Lingerie du Peau foundation, these two newbies have the same traits as the orginal; skin-fusing and natural, not felt or seen on the skin. Leaving it fresh and hydrated .
The Aqua Nude “Water-Infused Perfecting Fluid” is the lighter of the two and you need to shake it up before using. It’s super duper light and feels almost like water. It is SPF 20 and says it smoothes, plumps and hydrates. I love this product and it’s a shame it’s not out until September because it would be the perfect summer base. £33.
The Cushion foundation comes in at a slightly higher SPF coverage of 25 which means the texture is also a little thicker and full coverage. Saying that, still no way near as full as the orginal one. It claims Anti-Fatigue properties and also smoothes, plumps and hydrates. This again is the perfect warm weather foundation. The airtight compact and hidden sponge means there is no messiness or formula dry out, which has happened to me before with cushion foundations. £36.50.
I love these both but if I had to choose one it may be the Cushion foundation because the compact is handy for carrying around and I like fuller coverage that gives me more options.
NB* both my testers came in shade 02N clair/light but when swatched the cushion foundation is definitely a shade or two darker, however, only one shade darker when buffed in.
Honorable mention goes to the Intense Liquid Matte lipsticks (7 shades) which are neither matte nor wet look despite what the name suggests. I write these up as the perfect mix of comfort and high colour payoff with a tad more longevity than your regular bullet lipstick.
Do any of these new releases take your fancy for September? I am a massive base junkie so the 2 x foundation launches do it for me. I am also SO in love with my Caliente Beige KISS KISS Matte lipstick. It will be getting a lot of use.
