NARS is the makeup junkie’s brand and their palettes are the catnip. This fashion week just passed saw NARS launch TWO beautiful palettes, The NARSissist Cheek Studio Palette: Hide and Cheek and the L’Amour Toujours L’Amour Palette. These launches, although limited edition (get ‘em whilst you can) will happen biannually at Fashion Week which is sort of MAJE !
I got my hands on them both, see how I wear them day > night.
NARSissist Cheek Studio Palette: Hide and Cheek
I get very easily excited about anything palette related and this NARSISSIT one is so F888king dreamy. Everything about it is ticking my boxes: the monochrome, minimal casing with front mirror and inside mirror. An almost full size, bestselling Laguna bronzer and 2 x Paloma Contour Blushes sit next to it in the top row (Pink beige, Deep Rose) that work for a deeper contour and highlighter. The bottom row are a series of 4 additional blush colours: (left to right) Icy Lilac, Sausalito sunset, Shimmering Rose Peach and Fleshy Pink.
As to be expected from NARS the pigment is strong so blow off excess before applying and build up colour as needed. Personally, I’m a little pale to be using all the colours in this kit right now but I’ll be packing this for my summer holidays as it’s the perfect vay-kay face palette.
Exclusive to Space NK.
Eyes: Base is Cream Bisque, Lid is Sunburst Copper and Crease is Cafe au Lait. Lips are Steven Klein x Nars Besame Mucho. Base is Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Deauville and Creamy Concealer in Vanilla
NARSissit L’Amour Toujours L’Amour Eyeshadow Palette
Okay so this is a serious eye shadow palette and I can genuinely hold my hand up and say there is not one shadow in the L’Amour Toujours L’Amour Palette that I would not wear, which is saying something because there is always one that sucks. Remember that awful neon pink in the Gwen Stefani x Urban Decay Palette?
My favourites of the pack: #1 Cream bisque, #3 Amethyst ash, #6 Sunburst copper, #7 Café Au Lait (this colour just makes me feel happy all over), #10 Regal Blue (a matte denim).
It’s fully customisable on the eyes ie: you can take this for day to night without looking garish with 2/3 shadow additions.
This is definitely on the splurge scale but I think if you are shopping around for a well balanced neutral palette that is quality and takes you from nude day to glam night (or just simply can’t live without it) then it’s a worthy investment.
Available online at NARS and in department stores only.
In other news, if you haven’t been on NARS website lately they have FINALLY re-designed it. I absolutely hated shopping on the old site and the new one is really sexy and fun, very NARS. They also have an amazing feature where you can see the palette swatched on different skin tones (see here) which is brilliant. They will put us bloggers out of business!
Also some more exciting news is that NARS are launching their first stand alone boutique (again, about time!) and it will sit in Covent Garden this summer, next to all the other big name makeup brands. Xciting!
